Vive e lavora a Los Angeles, California, USA. I pannelli intagliati e le tele dipinte di Zach Harris svelano mondi complessi, utopici e distopici. La densità storico-artistica delle sue estetiche è inquietante, in un modo simile a quello del simbolismo di fine Ottocento. Mentre la brillante colorazione delle sue opere, ossessivamente dettagliate, richiama la qualità ornamentale altamente elaborata delle miniature persiane, le intricate cornici incise a mano o al laser evocano l’elaborata lavorazione del legno tipica delle pale d’altare cristiane.
 
Harris è un fervente praticante della meditazione, e la ripetizione meticolosa dei motivi dipinti o intagliati nelle sue composizioni funziona come un mantra. Allo stesso tempo, crea un gioco allucinatorio tra la materialità del rilievo e la sua illusione ottica, richiamando alla mente la vibrante risonanza radiale e la dimensione spirituale dei mandala tibetani. La sua arte sincretica suggerisce rituali senza tempo che, perduti o profetici, devono ancora essere decifrati.
